Mother of Little Boys

Christmas family pics 2012 002Cracker crumbs across the floor…

Dirty smudges on the door…

Fingerprints on windowpanes…

Little pants with grassy stains…

Toys and books all strewn about….

Here’s a sock that’s inside out!

Misplaced spoons and glasses too…

Pens and pencils not a few!

Pockets full of this and that…

Here’s a glove, and there’s a bat!

Dirty sheets to wash and dry…

There’s more here than meets the eye!

100_0063Closets all in disarray…

Here’s a shirt not put away.

One small shoe, but where’s its mate?

Oh, the clock! It’s getting late!

Floors to scrub…I’m almost done.

The war on dirt is nearly won!

Once again our house is neat.

Satisfaction is complete!

Tonight I’ll sleep in peace, but then

Tomorrow the fight begins again!

There’s lots of work amidst the joys,

For I’m the mother of little boys!

Unkind word expressed in haste…

Precious time allowed to waste…

Thoughts of envy tucked away,

To fester ’til some other day…

Impatience with a little one…

A bit of pride in what I’ve done…

Lord, cleanse my heart of all of these,

And fill it up with things that please!

Dust out the webs of fear and doubt.

Find pessimism and root it out.

Help me to focus on life’s joys,

For I’m the mother of little boys!
