365 Things Every Woman Should Know
I love garage sales and flea markets. You just have to know what to look for and how to use it. If you’re fortunate enough to find an old milking stool, grab it. A little paint and you have a new little table. Find old-fashioned paper dolls? Arrange them in a frame for a young girl’s room.
The key to decorating with-do I dare say it-old junk is looking at it with a new eye. A marble-topped dresser can be a beautiful dining room cabinet. Gilded frames? Put them in the kitchen. With simple creativity, your home has new sparkle. And no one will ever know it used to be junk.
I had a very close friend who often said things like, “If only I could have a bigger house …a bigger car…a bigger ring-then I’d be happy.” And you know what? Twenty-five years later she’s still looking for happiness.
The Bible says that a thankful heart is a happy heart. When I’m grateful for all I have, life seems to be in balance. My work goes smoother, and the mood in our home is more relaxed.
The truth is, people like to be around people who are positive and encouraging, who build up instead of tear down. Take time today to give thanks for all that God has given you and your family!
If your husband no longer opens the car door for you, maybe it’s time to make changes. And no, I’m not talking about getting a new husband.
Did you know that “taking a mate for granted” is one of the main reasons there is a 50 percent divorce rate? Don’t get caught in that trap.
Step back and make sure you’re filling each other’s emotional tanks. Appreciation is a choice, so choose to be grateful and express your love. The more you do, the easier it becomes.
There’s an old story about a clock that began to think how many times during the year ahead it would have to tick: 31 million, 536 thousand seconds in one year. The clock was exhausted at just the thought and said, “I can’t do it.” But when the clock was reminded it didn’t have to tick the seconds all at one time-only one by one-it began to run again and everything was hunky-dory.
When we break our days into small pieces they become much more manageable too. We can even laugh along the way because we’re not so stressed. A long journey begins with the first step.
Let me share a few simple thoughts from my heart to yours. I definitely believe in taking care of myself and my surroundings. But if I put all my energy into just taking care of my outward self, I miss the real point of life.
True beauty begins inside. And if it’s lacking there, no exercise program, eating plan, or wardrobe can fix it. Ruffles and perfume are no substitute for God-given beauty. I need the message of 1 Peter 3:3-4: “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment … Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
This is interior decorating Gods way!

Thanks for those little tidbits, Leane! We all know those things, but reminders are so necessary for our everyday life. How many times do we tell the kids to shut the door or tie their shoes? I guess we’re not much different, even if we are older. 🙂 Have a blessed day!!
I agree Renee. It should be an every day thing to put the good in so it can counteract the negative self-talk that may not be so uplifting or the attitudes around us that give us cause to be discouraged. Posting these things is a blessing for me….it gives me a motive to go over “tidbits” to share and therefore to continue to put these into my own mind and heart. God bless your day today!
