We had a wonderful Traditional Family Weekend this summer and I thought I would share with you today some of the pictures I gathered together. Click on the first picture to view the gallery…
- This is our gang before the Weekend…..expressing their excitement while Angleo is thinking they are all bananas!
- Missouri VanderPuttens sent this picture to us showing their anticipation!
- I think one of the most enjoyable times of one of these Weekends is the preparation. The exciement in the kids is energizing and puts a smile on my face….all day! 🙂
- Doing hair in fancy up-do’s or Jane Austen fashion is a lot of fun!
- I was truly impressed. Johnny hauled his sewing machine over 3 days before the weekend and sewed himself the shirt, the vest and the cravat. He had no pattern and his sewing machine would not feed through so he fed the material through manually! What a great job!
- It is such a pleasure to see the guys dress up for these functions!
- Our 15 yr. old daughter, Margy, made most of these vests for the dance.
- Paul and Francisco Shibler
- The girls are lovely!
- Virginia made these outfits….so pretty!
- One of the favorite dances of the kids is the Virginia Reel. This dance takes about 11 minutes and is very tiring! We did it three times that night! Lots of fun!
- It was not my plan to become a dance caller. But the cost was inhibitive of getting one in each time – from $250.00 to $800.00. I figured I would try my hand at it. I love to do it and to see the kids have so much fun!

This looks like so much fun. Where is it held?
Hi Monique, These are held in Rossville, KS which is close to the FSSP parish in Maple Hill, KS and close to Topeka, KS.
Thank you. It’s a little far for us as we are in Canada but perhaps one day.
Congratulations! It looks like it went very well. Have a blest day!
Thank you for sharing these pictures! It keeps the hope burning that maybe one weekend we will be able to join you.
God bless you all!
I hope you can, Charline!
It looks like it was a great time for everyone. I wish I could have made it this year. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of it.
I love it so much when you post pictures of your family. Theresa is looking beautiful and I hope you share the news when her new little one is born! I need to write her…I have a new one of my own to introduce. I am always inspired by Virginia’s sense of femininity, fashion and the amazing amount of things she creates! She’s amazing. Someday perhaps we will make it back to Kansas for one of these.
Love, Emily Alexander Gaddini
Thank you and good to hear from you Emily! Congratulations on your new little one!! I will pass this on to Theresa…we are still waiting for a baby over here! ):
I love all the pretty dresses and accessories 🙂
Thanks for a wonderful weekend Leane! I’m so excited my kids get to grow up going to these! I don’t know if I ever told you, but the first time I met Anthony was at one of these dance weekends back in the Maple Hill gym…lol! Thanks a million!
It is stories like that and people like you, Isabel, that make it all worthwhile! Thank you!
