A young man reveals his thoughts on why girls and women need to dress modestly. I thought this was very good and something you can share with the young ladies in your life. Thanks to this young man for taking the time out to share with others and spread the good news about modesty!
We need support in going against the flow so it’s good to have the girls (and ladies) get inspired by different outfits and to see that you can be pretty and modest at the same time. 🙂 So…for anyone new perusing this site you may want to take a look at our Spring Fashion Show and also Fashion Show 2013 which features Virginia’s sewing skills. We are so indebted to the good popes, bishops, priests, sisters, and laity for speaking such beautiful words to help us understand how important the desires and virtues of Our Lord and Our Lady are for us.
I’ve seen this video before, and he still does a very kind and friendly job of speaking up for men and women. I still remember at one of my last office jobs, many of the women were of the opinion, if a guy looks at you when you are “just trying to be cute and maybe a little sexy,” that it is his fault and not to worry about it. 🙁 Most unfortunate.
The only thing I would point out in His Excellency’s discussion is his sentence, “In following fashion, virtue lies in the middle course.” By the time he had written this(in the 50s) if it was followed strictly, the “middle” ground would have changed at least 5-6 times. To keep up with the “middle” ground could/would foster a “keeping up with the Jones” mentality especially in this past century. And even in this current time, the middle ground is constantly shifting and its direction is to lead one right out of the virtues. 🙁 IT would seem that when His Excellency wrote these important words, he had in mind from St. Thomas Aquinas(and I paraphrase) that the Christian does not just pick the middle ground(because it does shift), but is above this idea and sets his heart towards God in his choice of the better direction and virtue. And also His Excellency goes on to clarify that “that fashion is not, and cannot be, the ultimate rule of conduct for you.”
I love how he also states that this is a creative talent that when used properly extols virtues and uplifts our fellowman. 🙂

Your blog is such a breath of fresh air in this world hostile to virute and the faith. I wanted to share this you tube video of a good and holy priest speaking about modesty from the pulpit. Quite frankly, I have never heard a sermon so clear on the church’s teaching on modesty. He gives the reason why modesty using Our Lady of Fatima and little Jacinta. He does it with such Charity! I have heard sermons on modesty in a general sense, but never with specifics. And, as we all know, modesty can mean diffierent things to different people. : ) Anyway, I think you will enjoy it!
