I usually don’t get much time to sit and write to you but I thought I would take a little time today. Usually my thoughts (those I wish to write about) come and go so quickly that if I don’t catch them in mid-motion and put them to paper, they are gone.
I (obviously) enjoy the articles I post here. I believe these writings and sentiments are vital in bringing back, as I say in my “About” Page, the Sense of the Sacredness in our homes, our Churches, our society.
They helped to form me as I didn’t have much to go on when I first got married. Thankfully, I had come in contact with people who loved the old-fashioned goodness of days gone by and, because I was teachable, I learned from them.
I saw the wreckage around me and what people of the world were striving for, how far families had gone from this wholesomeness of the “back-thens” (as my kids call the good old days) and I knew I wanted something different for my own life.
Enter the books, articles, etc.….and why I have a passion to share them with you!
I do feel at times (through some comments, especially on my FB page) that some of you get discouraged because of the ideals that are laid out for us in some of the articles.
I did not get discouraged when I read these things as a young mother.
Don’t get me wrong, I have many struggles like all of us. But these same ideals that are discussed in many of the articles laid out a standard for me. It gave me that goal to strive for, just as we are to strive for heaven….which can seem very out of reach sometimes…
If we are not climbing up the ladder…we are slipping down.
It is important to remember that God takes us where we are at. He works miracles if we allow Him, no matter where we have been or how far along we are in the journey…
So…. pray like it all depends on God and work like it all depends on you. This will be a mighty force that will help you and your family win, win, win!
Don’t give up, don’t get discouraged…there is always room for improvement and always God’s merciful Hand reaching down to help us along the way!
The Benedictine Nuns in Gower, MO had invited people to come and watch the Eclipse at their convent property as they were in the path of totality. A few photos courtesy of Isabel Bogowith:
These dear sisters are amazing!
Here is a photo of the veiling of six of the nuns just last Sunday!
They are also quite enterprising! They were able to rid themselves of a big debt (the convent, etc.) with their voices! Their albums reached top of the classical genre and continue to bring in an income!
Check these wonderful Traditional Nuns out at their website here!
Just a side note and asking for prayers. Our Rosie was supposed to go on Friday and spend a week with the nuns. Her health is not robust and so she has had to postpone. Please keep Rosie in your prayers.
And now it is time!

I have sent you an email, Malani! Congratulations!
As Mary, beautiful and perfect, is the sublime model for every Catholic wife, so Joseph, “the just man,”‘ gentle, kind, and chaste, is a model for every Catholic husband. When God blesses your home with human life, the fruit of love, your family becomes like the Holy Family. In the family life of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph are exemplified the proper relations that should exist between husband and wife, parents and children. By practicing the domestic virtues of charity, obedience, and mutual help, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph sanctified family life. -Lawrence G. Lovasik. Yes some times the readings are very hard, even just to read. But those readings which are probably different for everyone here, are the ones that we probably need to work on the most.
Sometimes seeing the family get-togethers is hard because one realizes they just don’t have that option.
Sometimes seeing all the crafts and sewing is hard, because one might not have a lot of extra time. And it is also hard seeing all the family helping each other so there is time to sew, to cook, to craft, to create, to make music, etc. Sometimes one might think hey, I can do that too but I don’t have the extra help.
Beware of jealousy, its hard sometimes – enjoy whats here and gather ideas so that when time opens its doors, you already know what you want to do! 🙂
If we don’t support these very few good Catholic blogs that present writings by priests and inspired laity of a better era, who were out for the welfare of our souls, we will loose so much.
Thank you for the wholesome readings, Leanne!
I agree with maryarc, Leanne. Your blog is a blessing. I believe the Lord guided me to your blog and offers me grace through it for my own family situations. Please know I am praying for Rosie.
Dear Leane,
I spoke with a friend this morning who told me that she was receiving many e-mails from her friends who read Finer Fem and are really benefiting from the articles that you share with us all. I have had the same comments from those that I share your site with as well. That tells me that these wholesome posts are making a difference.
A thought from Dom Delatte’s commentary on the Rule of St. Benedict:
“Take good care of the souls entrusted to you, busy yourself with what you have; so will you get what you have not yet.”
Thanks Leane for helping us take care of what God has entrusted to us!
Praying for Rosie. God bless.
It is a great opportunity to deal with one’s weaknesses in examples such as this. To deal with pride in perfectionism, with regret, with the various heartbreaks that happen in life. I am happy that there are good Catholic families out there providing an example of God’s Mercy and Grace. Families who have said yes to God in marriage and children and are reaping the blessings of doing His will. I’m glad to see that there are devout families who are an asset to their parish and their communities – who have many friends and acquaintances whom they love are loved by.
Is there pain sometimes at what one has lost or will not experience because of lack of understanding and Faith, yes. But that pain can be used and offered to Jesus and as an awesome way to pay Penance while here on earth.
God Bless you all.
I am pleased to hear that. Thank you for letting me know, ladies. I wish to inspire, not discourage. And I sometimes hesitate to post what looks like perfect scenarios in our photos. But then I think of my own young motherhood and how much I would have appreciated some inspiration….real life stuff. So I go ahead and post anyway….in spite of the fact it may seem like….”Look at us, everyone!” It’s not my intent. I appreciate you a lot and thanks for the encouragement! And thank you for the prayers for Rosie. <3 🙂
I look forward to your posts, and thoroughly enjoy the pictures you share. What you are doing is beautiful and real, and I wish I had been teachable when we first converted. I am struggling now to right some wrongs, with older children resisting, its a hard road to hoe! We still have 5 children at home, 4 1/2yrs-16yrs, so there is still plenty of work for me every minute of every day. Pray for us, and I’ll for you!
Thank you Angela! 😊💖
As a young mother of 3 (I married five years ago at age 19), I must say I am truly inspired by reading Finer Femininity! It is so hard to swim against the tide in today’s society, and it is so refreshing to read the articles and see other families living their Faith on this blog. So many people have considered me crazy for marrying young and giving up a career to stay home with babies, so it means so much to me to see I’m not the only one.
I love the outfits that you and your daughters wear, Leanne! You are proof that modesty does not have to mean frumpy. Bright colors, patterns, flowers in our hair, jewelry, and a bit of makeup can really perk us up in the morning and help us face the day with pizzazz. If I’m going to rinse cloth diapers in the toilet today, I can at least do it looking good!
Above all, I love the joyful optimism of this blog. Traditional Catholics can get so dragged down with the evils in this world and the crisis in the Church. I would much rather focus on being the best mother and wife I can be and making a difference through my home and family, with JOY.
Just like praying is more meritorious when it is difficult, I imagine God will reward mothers all the more who follow the ideals in these old articles since society is so much more against them today. Back in the “good old days”, it was a bit easier and less isolating to raise a good Catholic family. Now it is much more difficult. I’m sure God sees all our efforts despite our failures and will reward us in this life and the next.
Thank you for this blog and please don’t stop. 🙂
Thank you Erica! God bless you and your family! 💕
We are so grateful for all you post to help us. What is the name of the order of sisters please? Praying for Rosie and you all!
They are the Benedcitines of Mary; Queen of Apostles. https://benedictinesofmary.org/ Thank you for the prayers, Aymee!
I agree with Erica! This sort of information needs to be shared and you do it in a way that is truly good and humble simply siting publications and Catholic commentary and the pictures and sharing of your family are truly beautiful! My boys are having so much fun planning their own boys club. Instead of Squires of Don Bosco they are calling themselves the Sons of St. John Bosco and hope to join up with your group some day. Who knows maybe (well hopefully in Heaven) we’ll all meet someday. 🙂
We can’t meet every week like you all but we’re gonna try for once a month. It’s a start and it is nice they have it to look forward to when they’re together. 🙂
I will admit I find some of the articles convicting but I’m always inspired and not discouraged by them because they are always so Catholic and written about principles so it’s nothing personal but simply good principles to help guide us in our vocation and i have yet to find another blog or site that compares with yours for this kind of Catholic advice. What a blessing. Do what you need to do of course. Your family comes first, but know that we are grateful for whatever you are able to post to help us. Much love in Her Immaculate Heart!!! P.S. I don’t like Facebook, but I’m glad you are able to shine a little light for the Lord there. Hopefully you dont have to be on there too much. It’s unfortunate that it is such a distraction for so many and really Facebook itself can be so discouraging in so many ways. I had to learn this the hard way.
Thank you Aymee! God bless you! <3
