Our boys…Our girls…
I want to share with you today this reminder that life passes quickly, and even though you are busy, take time to enjoy the moment. Thank God for each day for it will never come again.
The Last Time
From the moment you hold your baby in your arms,
You will never be the same.
You might long for the person you were before,
When you have freedom and time,
And nothing in particular to worry about.
You will know tiredness like you never knew it before,
And days will run into days that are exactly the same,
Full of feedings and burping,
Nappy changes and crying,
Whining and fighting,
Naps or a lack of naps,
It might seem like a never-ending cycle.
But don’t forget …
There is a last time for everything.
There will come a time when you will feed
Your baby for the very last time.
They will fall asleep on you after a long day
And it will be the last time you ever hold your sleeping child.
One day you will carry them on your hip then set them down,
And never pick them up that way again.
You will scrub their hair in the bath one night
And from that day on they will want to bathe alone.
They will hold your hand to cross the road,
Then never reach for it again.
They will creep into your room at midnight for cuddles,
And it will be the last night you ever wake to this.
One afternoon you will sing “the wheels on the bus”
And do all the actions,
Then never sing them that song again.
They will kiss you goodbye at the school gate,
The next day they will ask to walk to the gate alone.
You will read a final bedtime story and wipe your last dirty face.
They will run to you with arms raised for the very last time.
The thing is, you won’t even know it’s the last time
Until there are no more times.
And even then, it will take you a while to realize.
So while you are living in these times,
Remember there are only so many of them
And when they are gone, you will yearn for just one more day of them.
For one last time.

- Rosie and Margy went to Colorado together as a last “hoopla” before Rosie enters the convent. This giraffe welcomes Margy to the state…

- “God’s Storehouse” is what my girls call their “happy place”. You can get a good cup of coffee and do some great thrift shopping.
-
- They also made with lovely pall for a priest friend. The wire is made of gold and the material is called “Cloth of Gold” because it has real gold in it, also. The pearls represent the tears of Peter.

- This is Angelo’s game booth. He does a good job running it and makes some money to spend at the Festival.

- Fr. Kodet was transferred to Texas but came for one night at the Shakespeare Festival to say hello to all!

Wonderful pictures!
Thank you for the poem.
I was feeling grumpy and overwhelmed this morning and it has helped to adjust my attitude.
Love It, great pics, Mum!
How fun! Totally wish they had a nicer festival over here … This one displays the worst of the time. 🙁 love the pics and the pink dress with the polka dots was lovely 😉 have a blest day!
My daughter and I were just discussing the subject of that poem today… when I last spoke to my Dad, we said I love you and never knew it would be the last time as he passed away a few days later. All the times when they were kids that we didn’t realize that would be the last time we rode bikes together, or the last time we played at the park. So many memories! I never regret all the times we went out and did things like that.
Love this blog. Thank you for the poem. Where do your ladies find their lovely shirts? I have the hardest time finding shirts!
beautiful.A small reflection of God in man and things.
I don’t know why, but I felt a bit teary to read that one of your daughters is joining a convent. She looks so beautiful in her robe!
I truly wish you all the best Rosie, and will pray for you and your journey! With love and warm wishes from Australia xx
Thank you for this posting and the poem. I know it’s bittersweet. It seems everything that’s worth anything is. I admire you so much because you heard God’s call and responded with a “Yes!” to life and to home and family .. you have reaped the blessings of a large family and even though you have to say good bye in various ways to your adult children … you do still seem to have many of them still around even when they marry and have children of their own. And that is not very common in our busy and transitory lives.
God Bless you and your lovely family
handsome lads and beautiful lasses all… thank you for sharing so much with us. 🙂
