“In this joyful and charming book, Maria von Trapp (from The Sound of Music) unveils for you the year-round Christian traditions she loved traditions that created for her large family a warm and inviting Catholic home and will do the same for yours.
Here are the songs they sang for feasts and holidays, as well as Maria s personal recipes for traditional holiday foods. Here are stories and games to delight your children, and countless other ways to turn events such as anniversaries, baptisms, graduations, birthdays, wedding receptions, and even funerals into feasts celebrated in the Lord.
Most people only know the young Maria from The Sound of Music; few realize that in subsequent years, as a pious wife and a seasoned Catholic mother, Maria gave herself unreservedly to keeping her family Catholic by observing in her home the many feasts of the Church s liturgical year, with poems and prayers, food and fun, and so much more!
With the help of Maria von Trapp, you, too, can provide Christian structure and vibrancy to your home. Soon your home will be a warm and loving place, an earthly reflection of our eternal home.”

Congratulations, Rose! I will send you an email.
Nothing attracts the children more than the Crib. This very attraction makes it imperative that they learn about it correctly. Care must be taken not to mix in with the gospel mystery any details which the child will later come to recognize as false. -Christ in the Home, Fr. Raoul Plus, S.J., 1950’s
Please, in your charity, continue your prayers for Rosie who is not doing too well…and for Margy who had emergency surgery and will be in the hospital for a few days. They would both appreciate your prayers….and I would, too! Thank you for all the kindness you have shown me by your prayerful support. It has meant so much! I include all of you in my prayers each day.

Leane, I am so saddened to see that Rosie is still unwell and now Margy too. I have always looked up to your girls and felt close to them somehow (even though we are so far apart in the world), but especially to Rosie because we are the same age. I promise to continue praying for her, and to pray for Margy now too. God bless you and your family always.
I wanted to email you but having trouble finding your contact information. I feel so bad for Rosie and have been praying for her. In my area, Lyme disease is common. It is difficult to diagnose because it doesn’t show up in the blood til very advanced. I know a young lady who was tested for Lyme when first sick and it came back negative so they ruled that out but she became more sick and eventually they diagnosed her with a heart condition. Long story short….she was sick for several years, nothing was working. A new doctor re-tested her and it ended up being Lyme all along.
Continuing to pray for Rosie and for Margy too!
Thank you, Patty. Was there some kind of remedy for this lady?
Strong antibiotics for starters. Her family was in our 4H group and we’ve lost touch but I could find out what the treatment was beyond that if you’d like. My daughter also had it but caught it in the earlier stages. She started out with vague flu-like symptoms that turned into headaches, joint pain so bad that she could barely move off the couch. She also had brain fog (for lack of a better word) where she couldn’t think of the right word she wanted to say, easily confused, trouble concentrating at work etc. She went to the doctor and asked to be tested and he argued with her b/c it was winter when ticks aren’t out. He did test her though and it was negative. Luckily, her boyfriend’s dad is a doctor at the same clinic and after talking with her was sure it was Lyme and so he talked to her doctor and urged him to put her on antibiotics. She started feeling better within days. A few month’s later she learned that a friend also had it and recommended taking a special herbal tincture that actually kills the tick. The antibiotic helped tremendously and this tincture was the last she needed to feel 100%. Lyme has so many different symptoms and can affect people in different ways and severely so as time goes on. This makes it a strange and scary disease and why it is easily overlooked or misdiagnosed. That’s why I thought of Rosie.
Thank you Patty. 💕
My heart aches for all of you! !!! Many prayers are going up to heaven right now Leane for your girls and for you as well. How very difficult this has been…. we won’t quit praying! Our love and prayers surround all of you!
I love this site and am so blessed by all you do here. I just wanted to say that I am praying hard for your girls and whole family. I am around Rosie’s age and visited the Benedictines of Mary earlier this year–they are a beautiful community and I am sure she misses them very much. I feel very deeply for her and wish I could give her a hug! Thank you for sharing your crosses so we can pray for you, and don’t lose hope! God bless you and much love!
