Our annual Traditional Family Weekend was a week ago. Lots of fun, faith and friends made up the entire weekend!
Father Carney gave two conferences on “How to Save Our Country for our Children and Grandchildren”. He talked about and promoted reparation to the Holy Face! Many of us are joining the Confraternity of the Holy Face….and you can, too! I will do a post on it in the near future.
Friday night was game night and live music, with a rosary procession in the evening. Saturday was filled: conferences, games, pizza, rosary, and the the Talent Show! Videos are below the gallery.
Sunday was breakfast and then sports in the park.
All in all, it was a good time with good camaraderie. And hopefully everyone walked away rejuvenated and ready to bring Our Lord (and a smile) to their own little parts of the world!
Introduction Poem
I usually start the Talent Show with a little Intro Poem. Here is the one for this year:
Welcome, everyone!
We are glad that you are here!
Happy to have another weekend;
This is our twenty first year!
We started with our National Anthem;
We ask God to help our land.
We must pray and sacrifice;
That this November is in God’s Hand.
We appreciate our freedom,
As we gather for a joyous night…
Underneath our Lady’s Mantle,
And in her dear Son’s sight.
First a moment of gratitude;
For our community small, yet bright.
Remembering what we’ve been given;
In the darkness, it is our light.
So many out in the trenches;
No traditional mass around.
No community life for their kids;
Many things to keep them down.
We must consider what we have;
As imperfect as it may be.
We’ve been given a great gift;
May we have the eyes to see.
Tonight I am grateful for you,
Who’ve made the weekend happen!
For all of the Talent Show acts;
That I am sure our hearts will gladden!
Thank you for our sound crew;
Who came from Nebraska today.
For all of those who have helped;
In many different ways.
We are grateful for our priests;
Their gifts of service not unseen.
If we didn’t have the Sacraments;
Our life would be empty indeed.
May we have the hearts of children;
Bringing hope and joy and cheer!
Though we’ve been through some hardships,
The bonds of friendship persevere.
We dedicate this weekend,
To Father Walker our dear friend.
He loved to see the gatherings;
We pray his blessing to extend.
And to Sr. Wilhemina,
May she pray for our Church so torn.
That the Traditional Mass keeps growing;
That a new wave in the Church be born!
And now sit back, enjoy the view,
Cheer and clap for all you see,
For tonight, our local talent,
Gives their best for you and me!

How wonderful! Your posts are inspiring. I particularly love the “I was Born Catholic” song and would be interested in the sheet music/lyrics if they are willing to make it available.
Did you set a flyer on line or on fb? I missed it. Looks like it was a fun time. You were in the last song too. 😇
I didn’t get it posted online. 😕
Looks like great fun! Thank you for sharing.
I can tell a lot of “man” hours went into the entertainment! I’ve only gotten to watch a few of the videos, but I saw all of the pictures, and it appears many had a great time, I think especially the littles! Sweet giggles and lots of kiddo “ham-bones” as they used to say about the “great thespians”! MUCH more interesting and self involvement in such presentations than watching a movie or playing a video game. I imagine that there was quite a bit of brain power used to create these pieces, and it brought out the many talents graced to them by Our Lord. Very good poem Leane, you are a great M.C.
The special presentation by Fr. Carney about devotion to The Holy Face is beautiful indeed, I have seen him speak of it on Sensus Fidelium on youtube before. Fr. Carney is from Wichita, a place where I grew up until 16, and know well. It is a devotion that many of the saints were fond of, and yes, it would be a special offering to devote ourselves to The Holy Face of Our Lord Jesus to make reparations of love for the many insults and offenses from humanity in our days, which certainly grieve Him now, and grieved Him at the times when His Holy Face was so disfigured by the blows and insults as He carried the cross we deserved, but He suffered by in our stead.
We are excited about the devotion and hopefully many people will join!
Thanks for posting! I was wondering if these still happened. What a wonderful event for your community.
