🏹🎃Gallery 2025~ Pumpkins, Pilgrimage, Festival & Bow Shoot

Share

Below are some galleries of our happenings around here lately. Enjoy… (Click on the pictures to get the bigger photo)

Devin and Theresa are putting an addition on their farmhouse. Many of the fathers and their sons pitch in to help...fathers and sons working together…the best way to teach boys!

This next gallery is of the Shakespeare Festival…. I wasn’t on my game as far as photos but here are some that I confiscated from the kids. It was a lovely two weekends! So much work is put into these weekends. And it is a great family time!

Our booth is a place where we can gather as a family each night. We have a little “porch” off the back of it where those who are tired of walking around can sit and visit. Theresa sells her soaps in the front and Gin sells her crocheted hats, fresh flowers, kanzashi flowers, etc. I have my rosaries and religious jewelry available, too. Sometimes I am able to meet one or two of you who have traveled to be there! That is a joy to me!

Gemma sang in the Brush Fire Band each weekend. They do a great job and we are looking forward to when they will be singing at our son’s Pilgrim’s Keep Restaurant in town here!

Every year we have the Bow Shoot put on by our son-in-law, Mike. This was out 11th Annual Robin Hood Bow Shoot and it was a hit! It is always such a nice family event as the Shakespeare Festival grounds (Sir William’s Hollow) is a lovely place for families. The 3D Targets are tucked into various locations on the path through the Hollow. It is for young and old alike. Even our grandson, Sean, who is 4 years old, did the rounds with his little bow and arrow his dad make for him! Love it!

The kids went on the Three Hearts Pilgrimage this last weekend. It is in Oklahoma. They camp out on Thursday night, begin walking on Friday and end at Clear Creek Monastery on Saturday – 35 miles in all! I encourage you to look it up and join in next year!

This year, the good Bishop Schneider offered the Mass at the end of the Pilgrimage. The kids were super excited to get to meet him and chat with him!

This next gallery is of pumpkins and flowers! Gin has a little business on her homestead. She sells bouquets to locals! Here are some of them. She also made the silk flower bouquet for Hannah’s centerpiece that she can bring out each fall!

Our son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Z, have a huge pumpkin patch! We are all able to reap the benefits of it and so I have included pictures of the couples’ houses and their pumpkin decorations! Mine are in this post so I didn’t include them here.

Here is just a miscellaneous gallery of some doings around here.

I have been regularly making an Autumn Coconut Custard for the family. I make it in little jars and they are able to grab them at any time…for lunches, snacks or whatever. They are made with whole, raw milk and lots of eggs so it is a good source of protein for them. Custard is a little tricky but I’ve got the hang of it now!

Mike and Jeanette’s family went to Maine this last month. They took our oldest grandson, Edward with them. They also dropped off Angelo at the Hermit Carmelite Monastery in Pennsylvania for a week. They picked him back up after their trip. It was a lovely time for all those going to Maine. Angelo was sick the whole time at the Monastery but he felt that added to the fruitfulness of the penance there! 🙂

Little Giorgio loves their dog, Pirate, they are buddies. Meanwhile Sean and Rose have some lop-eared bunnies as their pets. It’s funny to see leashes on the rabbits! Theresa’s kids like to play with homemade play doh.

The last pictures are of the little home burial of Francis Dominic, David and Margy’s sweet baby. Margy was 5 months along. You can see the little footprints on the ornament.

“Think of the Queen of Heaven and Lady of the World as humble housewife at the same time that she is mother and caretaker of God’s Son. It makes me sigh of tenderness, fills me with goodwill and love for the small and great chores of the home. How fragrant would be the robes that this pure lily washed. How tasty would be the food her delicate hands prepared. From her holy lips, not a whisper, no complaint or claim, only praise and sweet words. A life of worship and continuous obedience, in the freedom of those who choose to love – were she to kneel in prayer or clean the floor.” -Veronica Mendes, A Mulher Forte

I use this book every day to meditate with! The stories of the Gospel are lovely, the meditations and prayers are wonderful. Available here.

The essence of our faith is the Good News of Jesus Christ. My Meditation on the Gospel traces the events of Our Lord’s life through all four Gospels. This pocket daily devotional puts the reader in the footsteps of an early follower of Christ watching the events of the Gospel unfold.

Father James Sullivan recounts the details of the Gospel with a gentle hand and rich historical details. These carefully crafted meditations allow the reader to feel the joys and sorrows of Christ’s life, from his public ministry to his Passion, Death, and Resurrection.

Father Sullivan brings the eternal Word of God to bear on the daily struggles of contemporary life.

The daily readings end with a practical reflection and a contextual prayer for God’s grace to deal with modern day anxieties and hopes.

Here is another book I use most days. Beautiful thoughts and prayers. Leatherbound. Available here.

Arranged for daily reflection this indispensable guide to the spiritual life is now in a FULL SIZE version! My Daily Bread overflows with reflections and prayers specifically designed to help you grow in the spiritual life and overcome failings, including:

How to cultivate, recognize, and follow your conscience
• A contemplation of the Four Last Things that will help keep our focus on the eternal
• The power of prayer as the first remedy to temptation
• A detailed guide on how to conquer a host of bad habits
• How to overcome our fear of suffering and instead embrace it as Christ embraced it
• How to live for Christ daily through spiritual reading, prayer, overcoming distractions, and cultivating devotions
• Achieving union with Christ through the Eucharist
• And much more…

Each daily reflection begins with Jesus speaking directly to you, kindly, patiently, and with great love. The next part of the reflection asks you to consider the truths presented in the words of Jesus. The final part consists of a prayer asking for God for the help to receive His wisdom and use it fruitfully in your life.
